A Habitat Regulations Assessment, or HRA, may be requested by a Local Planning Authority for work close to specially protected places such as Special Protection Areas, Special Areas of Conservation and Ramsar sites.
The assessment considers whether the proposed work could affect any protected site. Where effects are identified, we recommend measures to avoid or mitigate them and opportunities to balance the project with ecological enhancement.
